Fostering Transitions is a trusted resource for youth in foster, group, and kinship care dedicated to helping young people address their unique challenges and discover pathways to success. We provide personalized support through direct engagement, encouraging self-advocacy and collaboration. Our goal is to be a place where youth can rely on us as they transition to adulthood by offering support that includes life skills, education, mental health support, and other tailored resources.

Our Founder

Diana McGhee, the founder of Fostering Transitions, brings over 30 years of experience volunteering and leading initiatives in the non-profit sector, including chairing and serving on various non-profit Boards. Throughout her career, Diana has focused on identifying and addressing the needs within the foster care system and working to support foster families and young people.

Her background includes collaborating with county governments to secure housing and resources critical to the well-being of youth in foster care. She has also worked on advocating for essential funding and administering grants. Using obtained grants and funding, she has initiated and designed programs to efficiently distribute resources and build support teams to alleviate the unique challenges faced by foster parents.

Driven by a commitment to bridge the gaps in the foster care system, Diana founded Fostering Transitions to empower young people, especially young mothers in foster care, to have a stronger voice. Through this work, she envisions the organization as vital in creating a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of youth navigating the complexities of foster care as they transition to adulthood.
